Afro-Cuban Dances
I am Damaris Hechavarria, a Cuban dancer with a lifelong passion for dance and the arts. This passion led me to earn a degree from the University of Fine Arts in Havana, specializing in Afro-Cuban dances in all their forms.
Thanks to my experience, I later obtained my qualification as a professional dancer in Musical Theater Performances.
I have dedicated my life to dance, performing on international stages and being appreciated by audiences worldwide.
With over twenty years of professional experience, I have guided many people on a journey to discover Afro-Cuban dance and culture.
Valdes Academy
Valdés Academy in Casapulla (CE) is my home.
At this dance school, I teach Cuban dances in all their forms, women's styling, Cuban salsa, and Dominican bachata.
You will always find me here, ready to guide aspiring dancers, teaching not just dance steps but also the rich cultural world behind them—from colors to traditions.
